Gift Box Cake

When I received this order from Mrs. Ganesan, I was ExCiTeD as she requested the cake to be decorated as a Gift Box for her daughter, Natasha.  All this while, I really wanted to decor a gift box cake.:)

Her theme color was blue, purple and silver.  I couldn't get very near to silver color.  More to grey color instead.  She wanted a butter cake.  Therefore, as usual, my never failed recipe, I baked the yellow butter cake.

As they were having the surprise birthday party at Port Dickson, I delivered the cake before the party started.

Let's look at the pictures.

Thank you Mrs Ganeson.  Hope the birthday girl luv it.

Tartlets

Something different this time.  TARTLETS!! Hmmmm...... My kids simply love tartlets.  Me too.  And they helped me with the filling during Raya time.

I didn't do the tart shell.  Don't have enough time to do it this time.  I've bought it from LeaOven.  Anyway, I would like to share the recipe of the tart filling.  I got this recipe from Rinn's House.  Thanks Rinn for the wonderful recipe.  It's a custard filling.

Custard filling
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons custard powder or cornflour (I used cornflour, run out of stock for the custard powder)
8 tablespoons sugar
2 cups (500mi) fresh milk
2 eggs
2 tablespoons butter

Method:
1. Mix flour and custard powder/cornflour in a pot and add 2 tablespoons of fresh milk.  Stir to mix.
2. Add in eggs and mix.
3. Add in the balance of the milk.
4. Cook on low fire and stir continuously till the mixture is smooth and not lumpy.
5. Once the mixture thicken and shinny, it is ready.  Remove from the fire and allow to cool.  Ready to use.

Now let's look at the photos taken.
Rows of Tartlets.
Saw the big peach dice?  My kids just simply put it on top without slicing it.
They luv it that way.

A Hah! One tartlets was gone!!
Would like to order the tartlets for evening tea or housewarming?  Drop me an email at rose@ritzarikitchen.com or ritzaribakery@gmail.com
